Chains be on tight as fuck. But to remove them you gotta take the 'fixed' plastic slide off first to relieve some tension. Then you take off the plastic slide with the spring behind it.

Here is a pic of the cylinder head after I removed the camshaft. Undoing the bolts so I can take a look at the cylinders.

Three of the cylinders are in decent shape. The back cylinder is nasty though. Gonna have to get it taken to the machine shop to get the cylinders rehoned to get rid of the glaze and surface rust and get it bored over if necessary.


Bottom of the engine after I removed the oil pan. Supposedly the 5.4L motors come with a forged crankshaft. I don't know how to tell yet though. Lol.

Started removing the caps off of the piston rods. Looks decent up under them.
